Summertime is over and it’s time to get back into the swing of things with some updates to Projector!
iOS 13 (iPadOS 13)
In a word (actually 2 words): Don’t Upgrade!
I’ve been testing the latest App Store release of Projector (Version 2019.1.1 (443)) on the ‘golden master’ builds of iOS 13 (for iPhone) and iPadOS 13 (for iPad) and there is a rather serious incompatibility when running on these new versions of the Apple OS. The ‘drag to rearrange’ gesture that Projector uses for Song Sequence, Slide Breaks, and Custom Slide editing is broken on iOS 13 / iPadOS 13. There may also be additional incompatibilities that I’ll discover while I fix this issue, so if you rely upon that feature when editing Songs, Slide Breaks, or Custom Slides – then Don’t Upgrade your iOS device to iOS 13 / iPadOS 13 when it becomes available next week (September 19th for iOS 13 / September 30th for iPadOS 13).
What’s Next?
Aside from needing to update Projector to behave fully with iOS 13 / iPadOS 13, I’ve been doing some early studies into developing aWorshipStorm Cloud so that we don’t have to rely upon iCloud and the rather tricky (at times) Projector Sharing workflow to get multiple Apple IDs to fully use the Projector data. That’s a big project, so I’ll probably put it off till sometime in 2020 and focus my attention on some of the more popular “TODO” requests.
High on the list: bringing back a limited Plan editing mode to make it easy to add “instant songs” to a plan – like when the service is in full swing and the Lord whispers a song into the leader’s ear. We would certainly like Projector to be able to respond quickly to such leadings!
